The Burrow

The Burrow is a video / sound sculpture with dollhouse and video hologram.  Human-like mole creatures create an endless underground network of tunnels through the earth.  The video is a cross-section of the underground, revealing complex detail of tunnels and all its inhabitants at work.  Inspired from the short-story The Burrow by Franz Kafka, the creatures in the world are an anthropomorphism mix of mole and human.

The Burrow is part of a larger series of work Video Terrariums, which is a collection of panoramic video landscapes using multiple screens and integrating various animation/compositing techniques to reference scenic dioramas as one might find in a natural history museum illustrating a variety of habitats.

The Burrow is made by filming hand-made puppets in a model set which is projected onto a sculptural box with sound emitting from inside the box through the use of actuator speakers.
